At Abundant Life Church, our mission is to share the message of Jesus Christ’s salvation and love as revealed in the Bible.
We seek to help individuals build a closer personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and in doing so, build better lives within a welcoming and Christ-centered community. Mirroring Christ’s example, we practice selfless service and compassion for our community.
Our supportive environment is designed to help everyone grow in their relationship with God and with one another. We strive to create a welcoming space where each person has the opportunity for spiritual growth so they can reflect the love of Jesus Christ on the world around them.
We are an Apostolic Pentecostal church that seeks to follow the example of the early Christian church as recorded in the book of Acts. Like them, we seek to continue steadfastly in the Apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers (Acts 2:42)
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God and the authority for salvation and Christian living (2 Timothy 3:15-17).
We believe there is one God, who has revealed Himself as Father in creation; through His Son, in redemption; and as the Holy Spirit in the hearts of believers. Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh. In His deity He is fully God, and in His humanity, He is fully man (Deuteronomy 6:4; Ephesians 4:4-6; Colossians 2:9; 1 Timothy 2:5; 1 Timothy 3:16).
We believe that God desires all of us to be reconciled to Him, building a close personal relationship that is strengthened through prayer, fasting, and the study of His Word. This reconciliation to God through Jesus Christ leads to a fulfilling and purposeful life (Matthew 6:33; Romans 5:10; Ephesians 2:18).
Everyone has sinned and needs salvation. Salvation comes by grace through faith based on the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ (Romans 3:23-25; 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9).
The saving gospel is the good news that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. In doing so, He offered the grace of God to all humanity. It’s our faith in the gospel that leads us to respond in faithful obedience, accepting God’s offer of forgiveness (1 Corinthians 15:1-4; Romans 1:16; Hebrews 11:6).
We obey the gospel (2 Thessalonians 1:8; 1 Peter 4:17) and apply it to our lives through repentance (death to sin), water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ (burial), and the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the initial sign of speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance (resurrection) (1 Corinthians 15:1-4; Acts 2:4, 37-39; Romans 6:3-4).
We believe that God desires everyone to be saved and that salvation is made available by grace, through faith in our savior Jesus Christ. The gospel, or good news, of Jesus Christ is that his death, burial, and resurrection bring the hope of salvation to us all, and God called upon us to apply the gospel to our lives through repentance, baptism in the name of Jesus Christ, and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit.
John 3:16, Acts 2:38, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, Romans 6:1-4
Repentance is a foundational and necessary aspect of God's salvation plan. It involves admitting our mistakes and the sin we have committed, turning away from them, and letting God change our heart and mind. It signifies a genuine change of direction in life, leading to reconciliation with God. Through repentance, we acknowledge our need for God's grace and commit to living in alignment with His will, setting aside our old sinful ways for a new life in Christ.
Matthew 4:17, Luke 13:3, Acts 2:38, Acts 17:30
Water baptism is likewise an essential part of God’s salvation plan. Through baptism, our sins are washed away – wiped away like a debt that’s been forgiven. It also cleanses our conscience and marks the death of our old sinful selves and the beginning of our new life with Christ. The Bible clearly indicates the necessity of baptism, and accounts of baptism in the Book of Acts were in the name of Jesus Christ.
Acts 22:16, 1 Peter 3:21, Romans 6:4, Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38, Acts 8:16, Acts 10:48, Acts 19:5
The Bible tells us that those who repent and are baptized in the name of Jesus Christ will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The indwelling Spirit of God will comfort us, lead us to a greater understanding of God, and empower us to overcome our worldly desires as we seek to serve God. This is also an important part of God’s salvation plan. The gift of the Holy Spirit is what allows us to live and act in a way that is pleasing to God, and helps us to grow in those attributes that are most pleasing to Him: love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and self-control. Scriptures tell us that this gift is to be sought by believers and is not always received immediately upon repentance and baptism. The Bible also indicates that the initial sign of receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit is speaking in other tongues.
